NBA 2K21 MyTEAM ‘Seasons’: Everything You Need To Know

Nov-12-2020 PST Category: nba 2k20

The latest NBA 2K21 developer blog the lifted the lid on the game’s MyTEAM mode, detailing cross-generation details and also a number of exciting new additions and features. One of which is the intriguing ‘Seasons’.

NBA 2K21‘s Seasons will run on roughly six-week timelines, and will effectively mark the start of a new content drop throughout NBA 2K21 MT‘s like, presumably up until the release on NBA 2K22. It’s been assured that Seasons will be completely 100% free, and available to all MyTEAM players.

This is a huge change to MyTEAM, and the addition of a Seasons content strategy cannot be understated here. You’re talking about a complete calendar that dictates the rolling out of content across the likes of Triple Threat, Unlimited etc., and so it’s clear that the development team is looking to add a constant stream of variety and flux to the NBA 2K21‘s offering.

It may give the experience more of a “live service” feel, but let’s not pretend like it hadn’t already moved in that direction anyway. The good news is that it’s free, which, given the NBA 2K‘s series’ infatuation with in-game buy NBA 2K21 MT for almost a decade now, is a positive sign, and perhaps a reflection of the team’s understanding of the community’s wants.

The primary goal with seasons was to add some structure to the prizing mechanisms, with each new season bringing with it new prizing updates. This means something new, and the development team says it’s being intentionally vague because it still has so much more to detail.

Cumulative Win prizes with every new season in Triple Threat, capped at 300 wins. If you hit that 300th win, you’ll be locked to that total but you’ll still be able to snag prizes. Additionally, you’ll lock away a Diamond prize, but that’s just for Season 1: that cap may be lowered (or increased), which may depend on the community’s broader performance.

We can expect new cards as well to be added with every new Season.

There’s quite a lot to take in so check out the full developer blog for a deeper dive into MyTEAM‘s changes.
