Lost Ark vs Dragon Nest
For those who may be interested I made an analysis of what Lost Ark (LOA) did better than Dragon Nest (DN) which is a KMMO that's more than a decade old and has a lower player base when compared to LOA and also what DN could have done more than LOA.
Disclaimer: The LOA I'll discuss will comprise LOA that is the version for NA/EU because it is the only version I've played. In the case of DN I played on the SEA server in the year 2020 for about half of one year and a half before the official release of LOA in the NA/EU version.
Class Balancing
DN performs regular class balancing nearly every patch. However, sometimes it seems a little random. However, there are classes at the bottom the pile, and some are not matched in terms of dps potential. In the LOA instance, I believe that all classes are viable, and it's up to the players hands whether they performed well or not. It's the reason isn't really because they were in an unsound class. LOA was better.
Dailies
DN offers a broad selection of Dungeons and Nests that are placed in the daily dailies randomly. This is different from LOA which gives you the identical chaos dungeons and guardian raids on a daily basis, DN gives you different bosses and dungeons to take on daily. Furthermore the fact that in DN playing a dungeon, you earn little or nothing, instead, they provide a kind of unique bulletin board with quests that specific dungeons/nests can take on for rewards. They are only available one time and give players a random quest to a random dungeon or nest which is the reason bots make almost zero in this game. DN performed better.
Horizontal content
Content that is horizontal in DN is not available the way it is today. You are always in the town. LOA was better.
Events
In contrast to the lost Ark, DN event are actually entertaining and provides the players exclusive rewards when they participate in it. It is a huge progression of your account and something new players don't have which isn't only cosmetics. They also offer enormous catch ups for younger players to ensure that new players don't feel they can never catch up with the older players. They also provide incentives to players to continue playing and not feel that new players are just where they are and with little effort. DN performed better.
Leveling and Alts process
The process of leveling in DN is quite a pity. You have to follow the story of every character you create. It takes about 4 hours to get the maximum level if you're proficient. LOA includes knowledge transfer and powerpasses to new classes, while the new releases of classes in DN are events , however you have to go through the same leveling grind you have to do for all your other characters. One of the benefits of DN is the fact that it isn't an alt-based game.
Most of the game is character bound, and the sole thing transferable is lost ark gold, which isn't roster shared however each char has the gold they own. LOA was able to do better.
Gear Progression
LoA is fairly linear in this instance You work on your equipment until you are able to join the raid, and then get more powerful engravings and accessories when you require them, as well as acquiring tripods and gems at the same at the same time. In DN, once you hit lvl 95, which is the max level and also the bare minimum in actually playing the game, you gain access to all the raids the game has, now DN gives you 3600 ftg(energy) daily which you need 600 of to enter a dungeon/nest/nightmare which gives different items for your overall gear. You basically get to pick the portion of your gear you'd like to spend your time in instead of LOA which gives you mats for hone your equipment. DN had a better performance.
Support Gameplay
Support gameplay In LOA is quite enjoyable, which is a complete opposite to the game of. DN has no supports, DN has healers and healers specifically. Their only role is to be at the edge of the battlefield and provide healing when your teammate is injured. They don't attack in any way. They simply have to concentrate on making sure that their teammates are not dying and heal. It is ironic that LOA NA/EU suffers from more support shortages than DN due to the fact that it is simple to construct support in DN you just need to build the most defense you can and be good. Additionally the support can be able to heal the entire group of eight players, instead of needing two supporters within a group (Some raids require two healers). Whatever, LOA did better.
Raids
You can access every raid DN is able to offer at lvl 95. These can be completed once per week. Many of the raids that DN runs today come with entry tickets that are available two or three times per week. When you have entered, you will need to use only one entry ticket. Wiping will remove you from the Raid Dungeon, which is basically entry tickets that can be purchased just twice per week will give you only two chances to complete the Raid dungeon at once. However, there's greater gatekeeping within LOA that allows for unlimited attempts than in DN. It's nearly impossible to do it without knowing what you are doing in DN because you're not just wasting the time of others, it could also cost someone's freedom for the raid that you are participating in. Raids in DN are not simple, but they are more accommodating, but their mechs are as difficult to use as LOA (this is difficult to prove because their gameplay is distinct).
Instead of having six mechs to end the wipe in one raid boss, DN has mechs that instead cause massive injuries to everyone and make them unfit to heal for x amount of time or provide massive debuffs to all Pt players, such as 99% speed reduction. There are still mechs that wipe in DN however most of the times you're not in a position to fail them. Moreover, falling short of the more gentle mechs can allow your team to recover and challenge your team to make it through the game, which is enjoyable in its own. I think LOA without entry tickets allows the developers to be a bit naughty on the difficulty of raids and add 10 wipe mechs that you must learn and no one will be complaining since the only issue you're losing the most is time(lol). There are many who run raids for eight hours in a row without clearing one gate, and it wears players out. At the very least, in DN when you are over entry ticket, you can just continue to the next gate because you aren't able to enter again. I enjoy the raids of both games.. I find them both to be very enjoyable with their own unique games, however DN had a better experience.
