Amazon's hugely loved Lost Ark MMO is 'at capacity in central Europe

The no-cost MMO Lost Ark has had an incredible release in the West it surpassed the second most simultaneous players ever in Steam history in just a few hours following its release on February 11th. The popularity has meant players in Europe are waiting for hours to play, but creators Smilegate Smilegate along with Lost Ark's Western publishing company, Amazon Games, are working on a solution to issues.

The lengthy queues were an issue on servers on Europe Central server soon after its launch. The developers immediately promised to launch the new Europe West server to give players a second option to play. Although the Europe West server is now in operation, "the Europe Central region is full and there's no solution to increase the number of players across the world within Europe Central," according to a post by the creators at the Lost Ark forums. "Adding more servers isn't feasible given the complexity of all systems that must cooperate."

Players from the West cannot transfer to a different server however, which means that players who've spent a lot of time on Europe Central can't bring their cheap Lost Ark Gold across to Europe West. Server transfer features have begun to be implemented in Korea in the region which is where the game debuted in the year 2019, however, it "just launched" across the country and " isn't able to provide cross-region support," meaning that it is "not an option that is viable in the moment for the version in western regions."

Despite all the problems, Lost Ark has remained extremely well-liked. In the afternoon of Monday there were more than one million concurrent users according to Valve's stats page on Steam. This isn't the only MMO to experience server capacity issues in the last few months -for example, Final Fantasy XIV had to end its trial for free following the release in the Endwalker expansion last month. However, the trial is free in February 22nd.Despite the problems, Lost Ark has remained extremely popular. At the time of writing the game had more than one million concurrent users according to the stats page of Valve for Steam. It's not the first MMO to be hit by problems with server capacity in recent months -It's the reason why Final Fantasy XIV had to cease offering its trial for free following the release of its Endwalker extension in the month of December. However, the trial is free from February 22nd.
