EA Sports FC: Things We Don't Want to See

Jun-13-2023 PST Category: FC 24

Welcome back to another EA Sports FC topic! We'll be discussing the things we don't want to see in EA Sports FC, or as some of you may know it, EA Sports FC. While we usually focus on the things we want in the game, today we're going to take a different approach and highlight the aspects that need improvement or removal. So, let's dive in!

One of the minor but noticeable changes in FIFA 23's Career Mode menus is the removal of a shortcut button. In previous versions, pressing the square button would take you straight to the save menu. However, in FIFA 23, this shortcut has been replaced by broken news tiles. Not only are these tiles often inaccurate, but they also require you to navigate through the menus to find the save game option, which can be frustrating. It would be great if EA Sports could bring back the shortcut button for saving, just like in FIFA 19 and earlier versions.

Next, let's talk about the edit player function. While it allows us to make changes to player attributes, and positions, and even customize their appearance with tucked or untucked shirts and sleeve options, there are some shortcomings. One major issue is that when you save changes for one player, it kicks you back to the main menu instead of allowing you to continue editing other players. If you want to edit multiple players, you have to go through additional steps, wasting time and causing unnecessary frustration. EA should address this inconvenience and allow seamless editing for multiple players in the edit player section.

Furthermore, the country selection in the edit player function is not in alphabetical order. This can be confusing when you're looking for a specific country, as the list seems to follow a different order, possibly based on continents. It would be helpful to have the countries listed in alphabetical order for easier navigation and selection.

Moving on, one disappointing aspect of FIFA 23 is the exclusive focus on retro kits for Ultimate Team players. These visually appealing kits are not available for offline modes like Career Mode. Many players who do not engage in Ultimate Team miss out on enjoying these retro kits. It would be great if EA Sports could extend the availability of retro kits to other game modes as well, as all players should have the opportunity to enjoy them.

Another issue is the inconsistency in applying real faces to existing saves in career mode. EA frequently releases squad updates that bring in new faces, but these updates do not apply to existing career mode saves. This means that if you start a save and then a face update is released, your current save will not benefit from the new faces. This could be improved by applying face updates to existing career mode saves, similar to how other games like PES handle data packs and updates in their respective game modes.

Additionally, there is a significant number of young players in FIFA 23's career mode who do not have real faces. These players often have high potential and are the ones players want to sign and develop over time. It's frustrating to see players with massive potential lacking real faces, as it takes away from the immersion and enjoyment of career mode. EA should prioritize adding real faces to these young players to enhance the experience.

Turning our attention to the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA, it's disheartening to see the release of legacy editions. These editions offer minimal updates, with gameplay features remaining unchanged from previous editions. For the full price of a game, players expect significant enhancements and developments, but legacy editions only offer updated rosters and kits. This is particularly disappointing for Nintendo Switch users who are left with outdated gameplay experiences. EA should invest more effort in delivering a comprehensive FIFA experience for the Nintendo Switch, even if it means optimizing the game to work within the console's limitations.

In career mode, the transfer negotiation scenes have remained relatively unchanged for several years. While negotiations primarily take place in an office, adding more variety and different layouts would help to break the monotony. For example, different office designs or alternate locations like different restaurants could provide a refreshing experience during transfer negotiations. This small change could go a long way in making career mode more engaging.

Lastly, EA Sports FC should address the issue of broken news tiles and various bugs in career mode. Some of the broken news tiles, such as the Champions League one, often display incorrect backgrounds, making them feel out of place. Additionally, there are numerous minor bugs throughout career mode that need to be addressed. It's essential for EA Sports to invest time and resources in fixing these issues to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable career mode experience.
